We bought the boat with a ‘Canaflame’ heater installed.

This is a solid fuel heater mounted on the wall. The fuel canister holder is gimbled so the heeling does not affect the flames. The stove is sopposed to use Canaflame fuel, the company is no more. We used Sterno, it worked well to take the chill out of the air.

We would get about two hours of heat. The real problem was the fumes, and the smell. We figured out that removing the label helped some.
The Canaflame went on eBay, and is now gone.
The Winter is cold, so a replacement is needed. We did not want to cut new holes in our boat. We may end up in the tropics, so heat is not needed. We needed a temporary solution.
Borrowing ideas from our VW bus days, were decided on a Buddy heater from Mr. Heater. It burns propane from those small 1lb cylinders, fits in the boat, and puts out enough heat.

This is the stop gap solution. If we stay in the Northern latitudes, we will visit the heat question again.
